Invitation-21.06.2022 International Yoga Day-2022.jpg

Dear Member,

Yoga is a practice that has been in existence from time immemorial. In today’s times, this has become a trendsetter in maintaining both physical and mental well-being globally. Each Yogic activity is a key to improving flexibility, strength, balance and attaining harmony. The present resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic has added stress and anxiety among the people. The disease and isolation are not only affecting a patient`s physical health but also taking a toll on the psychological or emotional health.

As you are aware that since the declaration of June 21st as International Day of Yoga (IDY), after the call of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi ji, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has been celebrating IDY and encouraging its members, students and their families to include Yoga as part of their lives. This year too, ICAI shall be celebrating this day across Pan India with more zeal and enthusiasm as our nation is celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence i.e. “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”.

The theme of this year of International Day of Yoga will be “Yoga for Humanity”.

General Guidelines:

1. We always start the session with the invocation. The instructor chants and you
repeat. The invocation is not a prayer. It helps calm the mind and focus on the
Yoga we are about to do. However, if you are not comfortable saying it, please sit
as directed and silently focus on your breathing.
2. Make an effort to remember the name of the asana as this will help you in linking
the movement, action and later, inner adjustment.
3. Please wear comfortable clothing that does not hamper movement. T-shirt and
tights/cycling shorts for women and T-shirt and above-knee shorts for men is
recommended.
4. Please finish your heavy meal or snack at least 2 hours before your Yoga session
to avoid nausea, vomiting and headache or plain heaviness. (A light beverage 30
minutes earlier is okay) You can eat 1 hour after the practice.
5. Please do not come straight from another physical exercise, e.g. swimming,
gymming, tennis, etc. This will tire your more and you may not be able to hold
your asana long or correctly.
6. Do not hold your breath in any asana. Always breathe through your nose. Keep
your mouth closed.
7. Keep your eyes open unless otherwise directed
8. You cannot drink water during class, if you feel uncomfortably thirsty, please
inform your instructor immediately.
9. Inform the instructor at the beginning of class if you have any aches, pains,
sprains or any other health issue.
